What can you cook on a barbeque!

You can do all the traditional barbeque foods including burgers, chicken pieces, skewers of meat, corn on the cob, sausages, steak, chops, ribs - almost anything really! You can even cook fish - there are special holders for making this even easier!

Vegetables are often ignored on the barbeque menu - sweet corn is delicious and can be done it's its own natural wrapper. Peppers and courgettes can be put on kebabs along with onion segments, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. You can try most veg - but some wilt too much and some need brushing with oil first.

For vegetarians there's various quorn products you can cook - but do them first or on a clean area of the grill - or even use a metal tray to ensure they stay veggie. You can wrap things in foil and put them on the grill too - this stops the outsides burning and is suitable for some foods that crisps easily.

You can vary your barbeque diet and enjoy one several times a week without getting bored! Serve plenty of salads and fresh buns with the food!

For dessert you can toast bananas in their skins, put slices of fresh pineapple on the barbeque or even make fruit kebabs. When using wooden skewers you should soak them in water for half an hour first as this stops them burning too easily. Try dips of melted chocolate or golden syrup to make them sweeter for the real sweet tooth monsters!
